GUEST ARTISTS
This section of the the gallery space is devoted to
guest artists whose work I particularly admire.

RIEKO KUYO
is a graphic designer who trained at Tokyo Design College
and whose prizewinning work shows an instinctively powerful eloquence.
Her art is one of ideas, where medium and materials are subordinate to the quiet,
elegant expression of a unique personal vision.

PAOLA CHIAIA
is an Italian fashion designer who lives and works in London.
Her fashion illustrations show a grace and certainty
of line that we would normally associate with fine artists
of the highest calibre. From a pure fashion standpoint, the
drawings shown here are already outdated. But as drawings they
have a timeless quality that exerts a compelling fascination.
It has been a pleasure and a privilege for me to collaborate with Paola
on the preparation of her work for presentation at Kurai Hoshi.

SARAH CAVE
is a ceramic artist whose work has intrigued me for many years.
It is a most difficult thing for any artist to escape the stylistic
'mark' of the era in which they live and work; it is even more difficult
to do this while attaining the highest standards of creative originality.
Sarah achieves both with an instinctive, almost casual, ease.
Looking at any single piece, it is often difficult to decide
whether it belongs to the ancient past or the distant future.
Perhaps this simply means that she possesses the secret of making things
that would be considered beautiful and fascinating by
anybody, anywhere, anytime.
